MSRP $1,500 REI
Electra’s beach cruiser electric bikes have one of the best value in terms of price-to-quality ratio.
Owned by Trek bicycles, Electra has put up a number of mid-and entry-level bikes at an affordable rate. The reason why they have managed to keep the prices low is the number of in-house components used. They produce a great variation of bikes for the whole family – from kids’ to men’s and women’s bicycles. Electra Women’s cruiser bikes are among the best-selling in REI.
Based on the Electra Cruiser 1 bike, the Townie Go! 7D is a great choice for anyone who needs a bike for everyday commutes but prefers the ultimate comfort factor.
2. Firmstrong Urban Lady 26″ 350W
Beach Cruiser women’s electric bike
MSRP $1,499 Firmstrong
This electric beach cruiser may look innocuous, but it packs a lot of punch in its 19-inch, 38lb frame. Behind its bells, whistles, and basket accessories lies a bike that is bound to be a head-turner. Fitted with a 350watt rear hub motor, riders can expect a 40-mile range at speeds of 30 miles an hour. The 2.125’’ tires also provide plenty of cushions and ease whilst cruising.
About the Model
Ease is certainly one of this e-bike’s main selling points. It arrives 80% assembled for maximum convenience and is fitted with a plush, dual-spring saddle for extra comfort. There’s also an LCD screen and a 10.4 Ah Lithium-Ion Battery. The 7-speed Shimano system gives riders tremendous versatility on roads, hills, beaches, and trials. Adding to its strong comfort factor are a large pair of 28.5’’ ing handlebars, built to feel ergonomic and secure.
Larger riders may feel awkward on this model as it is primarily built for women between 5-6ft tall. Although its maximum weight capacity is high (up to 300lbs), it can feel a little too small if you’re of above-average height.
Firmstrong’s Urban Lady model appeals to the needs of its target market very well. Its small size may be a hangup for some, but it remains an impressive e-bike with a lot going for it. Retailing at the respectable price of $1,489, it makes for a great introduction to the world of electric bicycling.
3. Ride1Up 700 Series
A hybrid with a comfort of a cruiser e-bike
MSRP $1,595 Ride1Up
The only thing you’ll have to worry about when you’re riding Ride1Up’s 700 Series is which speed to cruise at.
This electric hybrid bike features a lightweight alloy frame that is built with your comfort and safety in mind. The powerful 750w geared hub motor will have you smoothly cruising the streets at speeds of up to 28mph. If you’re in the mood for some old-school manual cycling, then the backlit color display will give you easy access to the settings.
About the Model
The 700 Series is part comfort and part performance. Its lightweight frame and the rapid engine will get you to your destination quickly whilst the plush, padded seat and accommodating handlebars will get you there in style.
Safety is another important part of the 700 Series. Complete with hydraulic brakes and powerful brake lights, riders can feel assured that the bike has got their back.
If Ride1Up had just one improvement to make, it would be the kickstand position. Its central location can interfere with the pedals and make reversing and parking the bike unnecessarily difficult.
Ride1Up is on to a true winner with its 700 Series. For $1,595, this bike has all the features of a top-quality electric bicycle.
4. Rad Power Bikes – RadCity
City cruiser with suspension
MSRP $1,499 Rad Power Bikes
The RadCity 4 by Rad Power Bikes is a true powerhouse. Strong, sturdy, hefty, and reliable – it’s ideal for those long commutes and meandering, explorational journeys.
Riders of all shapes and sizes will feel right at home on the bike’s 18.5’’ frame. The padded saddle and swept-back handlebars will keep you comfortable as you take advantage of its 45-mile range.
About the Model
The RadCity 4’s puncture-resistant tyres work just as well traversing through smooth, flat roads as they do on treacherous uphill ascents. The 750w motor provides the power and you’ll expect to reach speeds of around 27mph on this bike.
If you’re a taller, heavier rider, then you’ll feel right at home on the RadCity 4. Larger folk really are the biggest benefactors of this bike as it can support riders well who are well over 6 feet tall and 250lbs.
The backlit LCD display is also top-quality, especially considering the RadCity 4’s status as a more affordable electric bike. Complete with a speedometer, a battery indicator, and a wattmeter, this electric bike aims to cover all your bases.
Not everybody will appreciate the bulk of the RadCity 4. Its 68lb frame can be formidable for smaller, more lightweight riders, and its sheer bulk can make carrying the bike an exhausting task.
The RadCity 4 is a stallion of a commuting bike. For the price of $1,499, it is one of the most affordable bikes of its kind on the market.
5. Schwinn – EC
Electric Hybrid Cruiser bike
MSRP $898 Walmart
There’s an old-school charm about Schwinn’s ECQ electric bicycle. The minimalist frame and retro-looking handlebars certainly give this bike a timeless look.
About the Model
Equipped with pre-installed fenders and a rear bike rack, this 250w bike is capable of reaching a 20mph top speed. There are also five different pedal assist settings and a 7-speed Shimano shifter. Whilst it doesn’t have an LCD screen, it does have LEDs on its front displaying battery life pedal assist settings.
It’s no powerhouse, but it’s a smooth, comfortable ride fitted with tires that are suitable for a variety of terrains. The range, however, isn’t great – it’s only around 30 miles, but for a retail price of just $898, you get plenty of bang for your buck.
The lack of suspension may be a huge turnoff for some. Whilst this may be part and parcel of the ECQ’s very affordable price, it’s still disappointing to note.
Considering how cheap the Schwinn electric cruiser bike is, it possesses a surprising amount of cool features. The rear bike rack is a great touch, and the range of pedal-assist settings is a treat. It certainly feels high-end to ride and the tires will handle pretty much every terrain.
It’s not the most powerful, and the lack of suspension is disappointing, but for the price, this bike does everything it says on the tin, plus a little more.
6. NAKTO – Fat Tire Electric Bike
Best Fat Tire Beach Cruiser Bike
This fat tire cruiser is ideal for smooth gliding across a range of differing terrains.
Whether you’re cruising along a sandy beach or merely getting to the office, this electric bike has you covered. Its carbon steel frame is extremely sturdy and shock-resistant. Its 300lb max loading weight is a testament to its strength, as the bike itself only weighs 68lb.
About the Model
This NAKTO cruiser comes equipped with a 300watt brushless motor that generates a top speed of 30mph. A 36V10Ah Lithium Battery gives this beach cruiser a range of around 30-40 miles with pedal assist. Of course, the tires on this cruiser are certainly an area of discussion. These 26×4 wheels will help you get out of a variety of sticky situations and awkward terrains.
A unique step-through frame helps riders keep a low center of gravity and is suitable for a variety of different body shapes and sizes.
There’s a few areas of this e-bike that are very average – the pedals (which are a little generic) and the brakes (which are noisy and difficult to control at times). The cruiser also lacks good suspension and riders can often feel the impact of the terrain below on their backsides.
7. Wave 2.0
MSRP $1,199 Wave Electric Bikes
This rapid, affordable cruiser is deceptively powerful. Although its price range may indicate an e-bike with entry-level features, this Wave electric cruiser bike proves us all wrong.
About the Model
The 2.0 has a 750w geared hub motor which is capable of reaching 25mph with either pure throttle or pedal assist. A 48 volt 10.4 ah battery is located in the rear rack and is removable for charging. Riders can expect a 40-mile range out of this cruiser which is impressive considering its low price.
The Wave 2.0’s aluminum frame weighs in at a light 55lbs. It also possesses rigid forks and, at the top of the frame, an LED indicator showing pedal assist setting and battery level can be found.
An LCD screen is sorely missed. There’s no way of knowing the current speed, or the top speed, and there is no odometer or speedometer. Although the LEDs under the handlebars serve their purpose, they look a little primitive and don’t provide riders with much information.
The peddle assist function is also a little jerky, and not as smooth a ride as some of its competitors.
The Wave 2.0 is a fantastic option for those brand new to the world of e-bikes. Not only is it a great entry-level option, but its rapid speed and long-lasting battery are features that will appeal to even advanced riders.
For a price under $1,200, the Wave 2.0 certainly has a lot going for it.
8. EVRYjourney 500W
MSRP $2,000 SixThreeZero
Comfort and ease are the two cornerstones of the EVRYjourney 500W bike.
Its ergonomic design and swept-back handlebars are perfect for relaxed beach cruising and laid-back exploration. Built more for effortless riding than pure performance, this e-bike is ideal for the more casual market.
About the Model
Powered by a 500watt rear hub motor, this eBike is a smooth ride under full motor power or pedal assistance. With a respectable range between 30-40 miles, the 26’’ tires give riders tremendous coverage across a variety of terrains. Expect top speeds of 15-20mph.
The 62.4lb, 19’’ frame includes both a rear rack mount and a rear fender mount. Its unique design keeps riders in a low position to the ground, providing a greater sense of control and engagement.
There’s also a backlit LCD screen complete with a speedometer, power meter, and battery gauge.
Those who are seeking pure performance with their e-bikes may find EVRYJourney’s offering a little underwhelming. More suitable as a mellow electric beach cruiser than a high-speed transport tool, commuters may find this ebike a little on the slow side.
Users have noted slight quality control issues with the handlebar grips and rear fender installation too.
For a low-moderately priced electric bike, EVRYJourney’s 500w cruiser has a lot going for it. Perfect for those laid-back summer explorations, this e-bike will keep you comfortable and looking stylish for the duration of your journey.
9. Magnum – Cruiser
Magnum cruiser electric bike
MSRP $2,249 Magnumbikes
This elite-level electric cruiser bike is ideal for both serious-minded commuters and more casual street surfers.
A retail price of $2,249 justifies an electric bike with plenty of bells and whistles, and the Magnum Cruiser definitely delivers on that aspect.
Armed with a 500w rear hub motor and a 48 v 13ah battery, the Magnum Cruiser has a 30-60 mile range and a top speed of 25-30mph on a charge time of just under seven hours.
About the Model
A pair of 26 x 2.15’’ tires sit below a 26.75’’ frame (which is the standover height). Complete with hydraulic brakes and bookending fenders, this 59lb electric cruiser has a lot going for it. It sports a Shimano Grip Revoshift 8 Speed shifter and Wellgo Aluminum Platform pedals, along with a suspension fork with lockout.
The LCD display comes with a speedometer, an odometer, a trip distance tracker, and a battery indicator. Users up to 265lbs in weight can use this cruiser, which is impressive considering its frame’s lightweight.
One slight drawback of the Magnum Cruiser is that its lights aren’t powered by the battery pack and take independent batteries. Whilst this is by no means a dealbreaker, it does mean riders will have to fully dismount as they turn the lights on and off.
Despite a handful of minor annoyances, the Magnum Cruiser is a sleek, stylish cruiser that is designed for smooth riding and user comfort. It achieves a great balance between impressive performance and value and would be a great option for just about every rider.
10. Big Cat Electric Long Beach Cruiser Electric Bike
No Image Available
MSRP $2,145 Bigcat
Big Cat’s new Long Beach Cruiser takes oceanside cruising to the next level. Equipped with unique 4’’ tires and a 750w motor, riders have plenty of leeway to navigate through thick sand.
Complete with a quaint basket on its front, this Big Cat cruiser values charm just as much as speed. Safety is another cornerstone of this e-bike, as it is fitted with a pair of 203MM mechanical disk brakes.
About the Model
This fat tire electric cruiser bike has an 18’’ frame and weighs 58lbs with the battery included. Expect a respectable 30-60 mile range out of this cruiser and top speeds of up to 28mph. One notable feature that this cruiser boasts is its front suspension fork – a welcomed addition considering the bike’s relatively high seating position.
The foldable saddle sits on top of the lithium-ion 48V 13A removable battery, making the bike extremely simple to charge.
