Any of these e-bikes would be great. Also, any model from established DTC brands like Lectric, Ride1UP, Rad Power Bikes, Velotric, etc. would be great.
Hydraulic disc brakes are absolutely the best. You want to get a model with four pistons and 200+ mm rotors if you’re planning to do downhill mountain biking.
Hey Craig! Kudos to you for being consistent with your rides!
My guess would be that you’re overtrained, considering you’re riding the same hilly route every day. Thirty miles is not short by any means, especially if it’s hilly. I recommend taking days off at least once or twice a week and resting completely or doing some other activity unrelated to cycling, such as walking or stretching. Try it and see if this helps.
Another potential issue that comes to my mind is that you may need to spice things up a bit by changing your route and challenging your body in a different way. Try to mix it up and do shorter but more explosive intervals on some days, and going for longer but slower rides on other days. Do this for a month or two and then try riding that 30-mile route again—you should feel an improvement.
Another potential reason as to why you’re slower is weight. You mentioned that your quads are getting big, which could mean that you’re putting on muscle and gaining weight (which is great, especially at your age!), but this might be slowing you down when riding uphill.
Hope this helps! Would love to hear what you think!
Hi Charles, thanks for bringing this to our attention. Both are excellent bikes, and we will definitely consider adding them to our list in the future. Enjoy your rides!
Hi Mark, it’s an excellent bike, there’s no doubt about it. It looks quite similar to State’s single-speed e-bike and Ride1UP’s Roadster v2, though more expensive and better equipped. I think it offers good value for the money and it obviously meets your needs! Enjoy it!
You’re welcome, Heather! We’re happy we could help!
Thank you for the suggestion, Rusty. That’s a great idea and we’ll look into incorporating it!
Hi Ray, that shouldn’t be a problem as it is common for chargers to have a higher output voltage than the battery’s nominal voltage to ensure proper charging.
Hi Juan, please check our sizing guides below to find the right bike size based on your height:

Hi Karla, I think you can visit the eurovelo.com website, download the .gpx file for the route you want to ride, load it using a third-party app like RidewithGPS, Maps.Me, Komoot, etc. and then check the route inside the app.
Thank you, Victor! We’re glad you found the review helpful! The Roadster really doesn’t look like an e-bike until you inspect it from up close.
We’ve just edited the info about the brakes.
Have a good one!
Hi Bob, I can’t give you more information without seeing the frame first, but it definitely sounds like a keeper. We love vintage bikes!
Thank you for sharing your opinion with us, Chip. We’ll definitely consider reducing the number of ads.
Thank you for sharing your opinion, D.H. We’ll consider decreasing the number of ads.
Hey Märt, there could be many reasons why this happens. It’s best to take the bike to a shop and check the battery.
Some potential causes that come to mind are:
– Battery Management System (BMS) Issues
– Overheating
– Cell Imbalance
– Voltage Drops
– Age and Degradation
– Faulty Connections
Hey Kathy, I’m very sorry to hear about your accident. It’s nice to hear that you’re cycling again, however.
I recommend checking out Hollywood Racks for a carrier that can transport a trike and a bike at the same time.
Hi Char!
You can definitely use tubeless sealant in tubulars as racers often use it for the extra protection, but casual riders might not find it as necessary.
It can help seal small punctures, but it won’t fix everything, adds a bit of weight, and can get messy if not done properly.
Also, you should do more research about your tires, as some tubulars might not be fully compatible with sealants.
Hey Leslie!
Sorry for the confusion, the XPress is Lectric’s first ebike with a rear hub motor and a torque sensor. The XPremium had a mid-drive motor and a torque sensor.
As to what happened to it—Lectric simply shifted priorities and determined they wanted to focus on other categories. Perhaps it will come back in the future—we surely hope so!
Hi Gerald! A replacement battery seems to be available on Revolve’s official website here: https://ebikesbyrevolve.com/product/silver-fish-rechargeable-ebike-lithium-battery/
Hi Charles,
Yes, the rotor could certainly be the issue. It’s important to check the thickness of the rotor with a micrometer, as excessive wear can impact braking performance.
Additionally, consider investigating potential issues with your rear brake lever or the rest of the system (including the brake lines). Since the caliper functions well when moved to the front, this suggests the problem might lie elsewhere in the rear brake setup.
Also ensure there are no air bubbles in the system. A spongy lever is often a sign of air needing to be bled from the lines.
Hi Stephen! Yes, the Radster Trail does have a bell, as stated on Rad Power Bikes’ website.
You’re welcome, Edward! Have fun riding!
The lowest-priced SLR 9.8 XT Gen 2 should be plenty good!
Hi Edward!
To be honest, the two would feel very similar to ride, though the shock absorption and handling would be better on the 2024 model considering it has 10mm more travel and the carbon fiber technology is getting better and better in terms of weight and compliance. Other than that, they don’t differ all too much.
Hey Christopher,
Thanks! I’m glad you liked the review.
A few other models that come to mind and are similar to the Velotric T1 include Specialized’s Turbo Como series (they are pricier, though), the Priority Current, the Vvolt Centauri S, and the Ride1UP Roadster V2.
However, out of all these, I like the Velotric T1 the most. I think it offers the most features for your money.
Specialized Epic is a great alternative. At the moment, Specialized is running a massive discount, so you can get the full suspension Epic EVO for just $2,400 (down from $4,000), which is a pretty good deal (though stocks might be low). You could also consider the Specialized Chisel (Hardtail) or Canyon Lux, both are excellent choices.
I wouldn’t say so, Edward. The 2024 Trek Supercaliber is still an XC race bike—the cheapest model has a carbon frame and costs $4,300. Non-racers can get it, but it’s a commitment.
Good points, Omar. Thanks for chiming in!
Hi Anthony, Quietkat, Bakcou, and Rambo are your best choices. One of their models will meet all of your needs.
Thank you for your comment! While you may be right, the reality is that the majority of popular manufacturers of moped-style ebikes and other urban-style ebikes use 48V batteries, which is why we have included them on our list. Cheers!
AliExpress is a reliable retailer, but you need to make sure that the battery you’re buying is compatible with the rest of the electronics on your ebike to avoid malfunctions or even a fire.
I believe they should fit, Thomas. But I’d contact Rad Power Bikes’ support just to be 100% certain.
Hey RT, it’s really hard to diagnose a shifting problem from afar, but it seems to me that you have lost tension in your cables or there is too much tension.
You could try to follow these steps:
1. Release the shifting cable from the rear derailleur.
2. Put the shifter in the highest gear.
3. Turn the barrel adjuster counter-clockwise a few times.
4. Move the chain to the smallest rear cog.
5. Pull the end of the cable with your fingers or a set of pliers as much as you can and tighten the screw that holds it in place.
Now see if it works any better. If not, your shifter might be broken and it’s best to take the bike to a mechanic.
Hey Rico, one of the main advantages of riding with tubeless tires is the fact that you can’t get snake bite punctures because there are no tubes.
I haven’t tried slime tubes, but in my opinion, they can’t seal snake bites. However, they seem to work great for regular punctures caused by thorns and so on.
Thank you for letting us know, Bob. We’ve corrected the typo.
Hey Ronald, not sure what bike that could be, but some similar that come to my mind are the Priority E-Coast and the Gazelle Medeo T9.
You’re welcome, Marshall!
Hey Danita,
Considering your height and requirements, I recommend checking out Specialized’s Turbo Creo SL models in XS size or Canyon’s Precede:ON models, also in XS size. I think both would fit you well and meet your needs, though you may need to install a shorter stem on the Turbo Creo SL to shorten the reach (if the standover height fits you to begin with).
Hope this helps!
Hey Charles, we’ve just updated the links. Thanks for pointing out!
Hi Kevin, thank you for your comment! We’ll make sure to include the information about the weight of all of these bikes. Moreover, all Specialized’s IGH belt drive models are excellent, though a bit more expensive than most models we’ve included on our list. Cheers!
Hey Deborah, I recommend getting an electric tricycle, such as Lectric XP Trike, Rad Power Bikes RadTrike, or Buzz Cerana Trike. These are trikes with electric assistance, and I think it will be easier for you to ride a tricycle compared to a bicycle, considering your hip issues. And you’ll still be able to get a good exercise on one of these by using the electric assistance only when necessary.
But if you prefer riding a bicycle, any model from this list would be a good choice. I recommend the Lectric XPremium as the top choice.
Good luck!
You’re welcome, Nicholas! I’m sorry that I couldn’t be of more help. When buying a replacement battery, just make sure that it is of good quality and compatible with your system to avoid a battery-related fire.
Hey Paul, it’s very hard to say without knowing the exact specifications of both the battery and the motor. It’s best to contact Bafang’s or Yose’s customer support and ask them. Keep in mind that using an incompatible conversion kit could lead to an ebike battery fire.
Hey Nicholas, it’s best to contact the brand directly on their website using the contact form: https://osoeri.com/
Hey Jason, the Packa Genie does outperform the RadWagon as it has two batteries (so double the range) and it also comes with hydraulic disc brakes, even through both are priced similarly.

Thanks for your comment, Dragos! The Superdelite is a good bike, but it’s quite pricey and not that readily available in the US. It’s also overkill for most average riders who are looking to do short commutes and keep expenses to a minimum.
Hi Kenneth! Most road and gravel disc brake calipers are only compatible with 140 mm and 160 mm rotors. So it’s best to find out what’s possible to use with your brakes. If possible, I’d recommend fitting 160 mm rotors as gravel bikes typically require more braking power than road bikes.
Hey Fred, that’s a good point, but that’s actually more than most people ride weekly. For most people, up to 60-miles is more than enough. Plus, getting that much range out of batteries means they have to be very heavy, which makes the ebike more difficult to handle or lift. Cheers!
Hey Dave, looks like they are being discontinued, but we have to wait and see if REI will replace them with updated versions or introduce an entirely new model family.
Hi Peter! Yes, you typically can.
It’s a great bike, Joshua. It’s a good choice if you can find it in stock.
Thank you for your comment, Ben. You’re technically right, but the term “mullet” is widely in use as a general term for mixed-wheel mountain bikes.
