juiced hyperscorpion review

Juiced HyperScorpion electric moped-style bike is not what you might expect from an “e-bike.” In fact, the HyperScorpion could easily be confused with a moped. This bike goes above and beyond your usual e-bike specifications, including a 70+ mile range and 30+ mph top speed.

This top-rated e-bike is designed for cyclists who want to go further and faster than ever before. It is not designed for a casual cruise or a three-mile commute. Of course, those are certainly possible aboard this 1,000W moped-style bike; but the HyperScorpion is capable of so much more.

With 4.25” puncture-resistant tires, rare e-bike dual suspension, and a 70+ mile range, there are few limits to what the HyperScorpion can do.

In this Juiced HyperScorpion review, we’re going to take a closer look at one of the best moped-style e-bikes in Juiced’s electric bike lineup. First, we’ll highlight the specs. Then we’ll discuss the ride feel, who this bike is designed for, and whether or not the Juiced HyperScorpion moped-style electric bike is a high-value buy.

Juiced Bikes is offering more than you would ever expect in an e-bike at this price point.

On closeout for $1,899, you can get the Juiced HyperScorpion ebike with a 1,000W motor, dual suspension, 70+ range, and a host of upgraded features, including a rear rack and fenders, as well as integrated brake lights and turn signals.

This is truly one of the best and most powerful e-bikes available.

Why Choose a Moped-style E-Bike?

The Juiced HyperScorpion ebike stands out from the competition because of its 1,000W motor and 995 Wh battery. Most other e-bikes are limited to 500-750W motors and a 40 to 50-mile range, including Juiced Bikes’ Scrambler.

With dual suspension and 4.25” tires, it can go off-road as well as any other e-bike. You can explore all-day adventures aboard the HyperScorpion, or cut your commuting time in half.

The HyperScoprion blows the competition away by reaching top speeds of 30+ mph, plus a range of over 70 miles on a single battery charge.

This model also features a number of safety features than make it ideal for busy city streets. Accessories like the rearview mirrors, integrated brake light, headlight, turn signals, and horn set it apart from other e-bikes.

The moped-style e-bike blends speed and functionality in an affordable package. With a 275-lb payload capacity, you can comfortably commute and run errands aboard the Juiced HyperScorpion. The super-powerful motor and massive battery make it faster and longer lasting than most comparable e-bikes.

Aluminum Frameset and 275-lb Payload Capacity

Juiced Bikes HyperScorpion is built with an aluminum heat-treated step-through frame that includes hydraulic disc brakes, integrated tail lights, and a headlight. This is a mid-range frame that is both strong and sturdy, capable of tackling all kinds of terrain. It comes in two variations—Standard and Express—with the latter being designed for delivery purposes.

The Express features only two differences compared to the Standard model. First, the Express comes in Yellow instead of Gray, Black, or Blue for the Standard frame.

Second, it includes the addition of an extra-wide modular rear rack. This provides a more functional solution to carrying cargo, though the 275-lb payload capacity remains the same.

At 102 lbs, the Juiced Bikes HyperScorpion is quite heavy. Though, this is what you would expect from a moped-style e-bike with a 1,000W motor and massive battery (which weighs 12 lbs on its own).

The Juiced HyperScorpion’s weight could be a big deterrence for riders who need to carry or transport their bike. Those who live in an apartment building or other small living space might have trouble transporting and stowing the bike, which takes up much more room than a traditional bicycle.

The frame holds up to 275 lbs in payload capacity, which is a bit low for a hefty bike with this much overall capability.

Offered in just one size, the Juiced HyperScorpion is designed to fit riders 5’ 2” and above. However, the Standard frame does not include adjustable seat height.

Taller riders have the option of pedaling uncomfortably or buying the Tall Seat Set for an additional $65 (which adds 3” of height).

Electronics

The Juiced HyperScorpion’s 1,000W RetroBlade (1,800W Peak) motor is more powerful than almost any other standard e-bike. Above this pay grade and you are starting to look at actual mopeds and motorcycles.

With its 1,000W motor, the Juiced HyperScorpion’s top speed is 30+ mph, and the bike has a 70+ mile range. However, it ships as a Class 2 e-bike with pedal assist and a throttle that is electronically limited to 750W and has a top speed of 20mph.

Hyperscorpion’s Class 3 capabilities and more (1,000W and 30+ mph top speed) can be easily unlocked from the bike’s LCD display.

In states and territories that allow e-bikes in the moped category, you can register the HyperScorpion as a moped, including the license plate. The bike comes with all the necessary accessories to make it street-legal, namely the brake light, turn signals, license illuminator, and horn.

The battery is a massive 995Wh battery that can power the bike for 70+ miles on a single charge. The bike’s standard 2 Amp charger can fully recharge the battery in about 2.5 hours. And the bike even has its own 1 A USB port for phone charging.

Finally, the pedal-assist features on the Juiced HyperScorpion include torque and cadence sensors which offer smoother power integration than e-bikes with cadence sensors alone.

Components and Accessories

The Juiced HyperScorpion comes with a solid drivetrain that includes an 8-speed rear derailleur and 11-32T gearing. Built for high-speed, the Pro Wheel 56T chain ring is a nice feature to have on a moped-style e-bike.

At the front of the bike, you’ll find powerful hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm and 160mm rotors. There is also a front suspension fork with triple clamp hydraulic knockout.

Following the suspension trail, we find one of the best features of this ebike, the steel spring rear suspension. Full-suspension e-bikes are a rarity, especially on a powerful all-terrain e-bike like this one.

Along with the suspension, the HyperScorpion can handle plenty of off-road terrain thanks to its 20″x4.25″ Puncture Resistant Tires. An integrated brake light and turn signals ensure that you are safe and seen aboard the bike, no matter the terrain.

The rear cargo rack is great for commuting, grocery shopping, and more. You can fit up to 50 lbs on the rack alone.

Who Is Juiced HyperScorpion Best Suited For?

The HyperScorpion is designed for beginner to advanced e-bike riders who want to take their speed and range to the next level. What makes this ebike so unique is its moped-like features, including the 1,000W motor, 995Wh battery, 30+ top speed, and off-road riding capabilities.

You can do it all aboard the HyperScorpion, including off-road adventure riding, daily commutes, grocery shopping, and all-day exploration.

The 4.25” tires, hydraulic disc brakes, and dual suspension make it even more comfortable and stable for beginner-level e-bike riders.

Intermediate and experienced riders can use the full range of its capabilities, going further and faster than almost any other e-bike.

This moped ebike comes with a 1,000W motor and 995Wh battery that puts it above almost any other e-bike at this price point. The only downsides are its limited fit and heavy overall weight. This bike is not designed for apartment-dwelling folk, and taller riders may have trouble finding their perfect fit.

Regardless, the Juiced HyperScorpion is one of the best — if not the best — in its class. There’s a reason that this is an award-winning electric bike.
